A form three student (name withheld) at St Francis in Guruve Mashonaland Central spent the whole of last week in police custody after possessing ivory at school.
Sources close to investigations told Bulawayo24 that the boy was nabbed after he was showing his schoolmates the ivory.
It is alleged the student picked the ivory at Guruve Centre growth point on his way to school on Monday 26 September 2016 and went to enquire whether anyone knew more about the ivory as he was said to be blank about it.
His schoolmates told a teacher who was shocked and informed the headmaster who then filed a police report.
The police nabbed the 15-year old and surrendered him to Guruve magistrate court that was at sixes and sevens about the matter prompting them to enquire through a letter to Bindura provincial court.
The provincial court ordered the release of the boy without any charges.
Meanwhile, the ivory was surrendered to Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife.
Cases of poaching are on the increase in Mashonaland Central.
