Mujuru launches mining programme

Vice President, Joice Mujuru on Saturday officially launched the mine mechanization programme at Bunny Luck Mine in West Nicholson, Matabeleland South province.
The programme, the first of its kind is aimed at capacitating small scale miners to realize their full potential.
Speaking at the occasion, Mujuru said as the country's economy is rooted in Agriculture and Mining, it is imperative for the financial services sector and the business community to direct their energies towards uplifting the two sectors.
The President of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation, Mr Trinos Nkomo said the pilot project launched in Gwanda will be rolled out to other parts of the country as it is critical in turning around the fortunes of small scale miners.
The Provincial Governor and Resident Minister, Angeline Masuku urged miners to embrace the programme to enable them to grow.
Mujuru also took the opportunity to plant a tree to mark national tree planting day.
