Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko says through the Peace and Reconciliation Commission government is committed to bringing to a closure the gukurahundi issue and to ensure the reburial of the victims of the disturbances.

In his condolence message to the Ndebele family following the death of Dr Cyril Ndebele, who was the Chairman of the Peace and Reconciliation Commission, Mphoko said government is working on modalities of healing the wounds of the disturbances experienced in Matabeleland and parts of the Midlands provinces in the 1980s by ensuring that all victims are identified and given decent burial.

He said the issue of birth certificates for the children of victims is also on the cards as part of the process to heal the nation of this sad chapter in the country's history.

The Acting President said the late Dr Ndebele was working on how to introduce the programme which is expected to heal victims of the disturbances.
