Masked criminal kills boyfriend, attempts rape

A cheeky criminal in Kadoma is believed to be on the run after he murdered a 29-year-old man before attempting to rape his girlfriend.
Police spokesman Assistant Inspector Ian Kowera said the masked criminal hid in a tree after spotting Joel Dube and Nyasha Nderezima on a footpath near a farm.
He said the criminal then pounced, striking the couple with a machete. He also demanded cash after which he dragged Nderezima from the scene, leaving Dube, who sustained a deep gash on the head, bleeding.
"The man ordered Nderezima to remove her clothes and told her to stay put as he went back to Dube. He attacked him again," he said.
"Nderezima managed to escape and made a police report. A team of police officers attended the scene and took Dube to Kadoma General Hospital.
"He was later transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he died. Investigations are underway," said Asst Inspector Kowera.
