Acting vice president and Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo should have been arrested on corruption allegations as they are not immune to prosecution, Vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa said yesterday.

Responding to several questions from MDC-T legislator in parliament, Mnangagwa said only President Robert Mugabe was immune to prosecution.

He said with that alone  vice presidents and ministers can be arrested.

On Sunday in Mpopoma, Mphoko who is acting president claimed  that no Cabinet minister could be arrested.

"I thank the Hon. Member for his supplementary question. What the Hon. Member should bear in mind is that in this country, this House and in his own understanding is that no one has immunity except the President" reads part of the parliamentary Hansard.

"Everyone else in this country is fair game. They are not above the law - [HON. MEMBERS: Hear, hear.] - There is no one above the law. If the Hon. Member is aware that someone did not follow the law, they should go to the powers that carry out this work and then they will be able to conduct their duty"

Moyo is accused of benefitting from close to $270 000 which was corruptly syphoned out of Zimdef by ministry and fund official.

Part of the money was used to procure bicycles for chiefs in Tsholotsho.

"Corruption can be tackled through the laws crafted by Parliament and it is up to MPs to strengthen them and make them deterrent. If you think there are loopholes in the anti-corruption laws, then amend them."
