In a bold declaration,
Higher Education Minister Prof Jonathan Moyo has told the nation that the
$450 000 he is accused is stealing from Zimdef is just peanuts, an
insignificant amount.
Moyo said the amount is a mere 1.8% of $24 million he dished out.
"Let
us be generous and say muri kuti $450 000 (was abused), this $450 000,
which is disputed, is only 1,8 percent of Zimdef 2016 Fund.
"Only 1,8 percent of the fund has gone towards what you would call corporate social responsibility. Hamudi izvozvo. Which of the organisation that is as significant as this one does not have corporate social responsibility at this low figure?" Moyo.
He added "Being able to enable the support for such public programmes, as part of Zimdef's corporate social responsibility is, for me, a matter of national pride. Ongafuniyo kayekele. It is my considered judgment that dynamic, effective and sustainable human capital development is possible only if it is anchored in public programmes like these I mentioned" he told a graduation ceremony at Madziwa Teachers' College.
