The 34-year old suspended Mvurwi town council employee Josphat Mukwemu was remanded again in custody to Monday the 17th of October by Guruve magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.
Mukwemu is facing seven counts of fraud cases together with his accomplice Last Chiripanyanga who skipped the boarder to neighbouring South Africa.
The pair allegedly issued fake receipts to vendors and commuter omnibus operators. They would record less amounts in council receipt books and pocket unknown amounts of money for a period spanning over six months.
Mvurwi town council is likely to have been prejudiced thousands of dollars in lost revenue as more rot continues to be unearthed involving council employees.
Meanwhile, a source in the audit department of council told Bulawayo24.com that another employee identified as Jocelyn was recently suspended pending fraud investigations.
Various discrepancies where discovered in the amounts that she receipted.
Jocelyn was a cashier at the council offices responsible for the receipting of service charges and revenue.
