Church of Zimbabwe Bishop Morris Gwedegwe has underscored the need for churches to respect the country's political leadership.

Bishop Gwedegwe said this during the Church of Zimbabwe Mashonaland Central Diocese Synod held at St Gabriel's Foothills Church in Bindura.

Addressing congregant's Bishop Gwedegwe commended the government for the freedom of worship enjoyed by Christians in the country.

He took a swipe at pastors who incite disturbances in the country saying their behaviour is a disgrace to the ministry of God.

The two day Church of Zimbabwe Congress which attracted delegates from all the eight districts in Mashonaland Central was also attended by Bishops from other provinces.

The Church of Zimbabwe was formed in 2012 and has branches across the country.
