President Robert Mugabe has convinced the Msipa family that the late national hero, Cephas Msipa be buried at the National Heroes Acre where other members of his league are interred.
Mugabe visited the Msipa residence in Borrowdale, Harare this Wednesday evening in the company of the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe, where the final decision was reached.
Msipa succumbed to pneumonia on Monday morning at West End Clinic in Harare and after the conferment of the national hero status, there were disagreements in the family as some argued that Msipa's wish to be buried next to his wife at the Midlands Provincial Heroes Acre in Gweru should be respected.
However, President Mugabe, said as a nephew to the Msipa family, he wants Msipa to be buried at the national shrine alongside other towering national giants.
"Msipa deserves the respect and honour that he worked for through his political activities aimed at liberating the country and maintenance of peace in Zimbabwe," said Mugabe, adding that although provincial heroes acres are looked after, the maximum care is given to the national shrine.
The body of the late national hero will be taken to Msipa's rural home in Zvishavane on Thursday.
It will be in Gweru on Friday and will return to Harare later in the evening.
It will lie in state at the Msipa Borrowdale home on Friday before burial on Saturday.
Several government ministers who included Oppah Muchinguri - Kashiri, Christopher Mushohwe, Kembo Mohadi and Ignatius Chombo, among others, were also at the Msipa home.
