A two year old child in Highfields Harare is lucky to be alive after touching live electricity cables amid revelations the residents were now blaming the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority for failing to insulate the cables placing lives of the residents in danger.
This was revealed by the Harare Residents Trust.
"A two year old child touched a ZESA box with live cables on the ground at number 8649 Highfield Paradise. The child is suffering from burnt hands due to the accident. The cables are open and live on the ground. After the incident residents had to close the electric box with stones," said the trust.
The trust said ZESA should ensure that live cables are not exposed as they endanger lives.
