Higher Education, Minister Jonathan Moyo woes continue to pile as parliament has summoned him over Zimdef fraud allegations.

Moyo is due to appear before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment next week.

The committee said the move is not a witch-hunt.

"The committee met and resolved to first call the Zimbabwe Youth Council to explain the circumstances surrounding the 100 000 litres of fuel they got from Zimdef" Committee chairperson Justice Mayor Wadyajena said.

"They will appear before the committee next Thursday. A committee resolution was also made that the responsible minister (Moyo) be invited the following week together with the Zimdef chief executive officer (Fredrick Mandizvidza".

On Wednesday Moyo appeared in court on Zimdef fraud accusations but begged the magistrate for more time to get his papers in order.

Moyo and his lawyer Advocate Lewis Uriri appeared before Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo in chambers.

Moyo is accused of benefitting from close to $270 000 which was corruptly syphoned out of Zimdef by ministry and fund official.

Part of the money was used to procure bicycles for chiefs in Tsholotsho.

He claim the allegations are tribal motived.
