The trial of RBZ senior executive and international relations advisor John Mafararikwa took a new twist Friday after it emerged that he was not married to the complainant, Norah Spie, but the 2 were cohabiting and had domestic dispute over finances.
Mafararikwa was arrested and charged with allegedly pointing a firearm at Spie, a former journalist. But he denied the charge and told the court she was not his wife but a mere girlfriend.
He said Spie concocted the allegations to tarnish his image and denied ever pointing a firearm at her.
The case was postponed to today where magistrate Elijah Makomo is expected to deliver his ruling on whether the state had managed to establish a case against Mafararikwa.
