Poverty levels alarming in Zimbabwe, 81% depend on borrowing

A staggering 81 % of Zimbabweans are wallowing in poverty and depend on borrowing for survival.
Matabeleland South top the list.
"There is no significant difference in the proportions of households having loans/debts in 2016, 81 percent compared to 2015, 79 percent" findings by Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (Zimvac) 2016 Rural Livelihoods Assessment survey indicate.
"A higher proportion of male headed households (21 percent) had loans debts while 16, 1 percent female headed households had loans/debts at the time of conducting the survey,".
Based on the report, 61 % of debtors depended on family and friends as sources for loans.
Matabeleland South had 54 %, Matabeleland North 52 %, Masvingo 50 % of people who depend on borrowing.
