Council accused of not attending to water leaks

Harare Residents Trust  has accused the Harare City Council for failing to attend to water leaks leading to serious water problems.

"The water crisis is worsening by the day, not because there is no water being pumped from Morton Jaffray Water Works, but because Harare Water does not attend to continued leakages across the suburbs," said the trust.

"In these pictures, treated water is being lost in New Marimba along Mukonono Road just after Mothers' Touch Pre-school. Community reporter from Marimba said: "Mvura iri kurasika kuita kunge rwizi vanhu vasina mvura mudzimba. Vamwe wari kutowacha uye wari kuwaka ndipo pawari kutocherawo mvura. Kanzuru yashaiwa chimiro nekuti havasi kutirimuka mareports anosvika kumahofisi avo." Residents right to water is being compromised by an irresponsible department of council."
