The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) is set to honour the country's top brands this Thursday, amid efforts by local marketers to reposition local brands on the market.
146 companies will be vying for honours in this year's Super Brand of the Year Awards to be held on Thursday in Harare.
The Super Brand of the Year initiative is aimed at developing strong brands and foster strong companies which will develop the economy.
MAZ President, Mr Godfrey Dube said local more companies are participating in this year's competition as marketers are stepping up their marketing efforts which slackened during the period of hyperinflation.
"Companies are doing very well. Some have new packaging for their products, something which we encourage. We have a section for local brands and a section for international brands," said Mr Dube.
The selectors for the top brand will be looking at the brand's approach to the market, and its equity and value in the market.
The categories from which the super brand will be drawn include clothing and textiles, hospitality, media and communications, finance, information communication technology, retail, food and beverages, and manufacturing among others.
