Police commissioner general Augustine Chihuri has carried out another major shake-up in the Zimbabwe Republic Police force, by transferring 24 more chief superintendents a week after 48 others were redeployed across the country.

A popular name on the current list is Chief Superintendent Newbert Saunyama, who made headlines recently after proclaiming a statutory instrument, which barred Harare protesters from demonstrating against the introduction of bond notes and police brutality.

He has been transferred from Harare Central District to Murewa District as officer commanding.

The transfers were effected on October 20 through a radio signal that was directed to all stations class "A" indicating they had been approved and should be implemented immediately.

The radio signal, which was gleaned by The Standard yesterday, showed Chihuri effected transfers mostly of chief superintendents.

In Harare, Chief Superintendent Nyaumwe K from PGHQ will now be in charge of Harare South District Headquarters as officer commanding.

Chief Superintendent Chizemo J T from Murehwa District Headquarters will now be officer commanding Harare Central Headquarters, while Chief Superintendent Mugomeri O from Minerals and Border Control Unit PHQ will head Mbare District Headquarters as officer commanding.

Chief Superintendent Phiri from Masvingo West will be heading to Beitbridge District Headquarters as officer commanding, while Chief Superintendent Makusha J from Beitbridge District Headquarters is headed for Masvingo West District Headquarters as officer commanding, among many other transfers.
