Fugitive former Mvurwi Town council employee Last Chiripanyanga who was wanted by the police in connection with a fraud case and had allegedly skipped the border to South Africa yesterday (Tuesday) surrendered himself at Mvurwi police station.

Chiripanyanga had been on the run for nearly one month. He appeared in the Guruve Magistrates court today and has been remanded in custody until Friday the 4th of November.

It is alleged Chiripanyanga and his accomplice Josphat Mukwemu swindled Mvurwi town council hundreds of dollars over a period spanning six months by issuing fake receipts and writing undervalued amounts in council receipt books. Mukwemu who was found guilty is currently serving community service at Mvurwi police station.

Meanwhile it is alleged Chiripanyanga decided to have his day in court and returned to the country after being informed that his accomplice had been spared of a custodial sentence and is currently undertaking community service.

Unfortunately for him after, having been a council employee for nearly three decades he was dismissed without a package for defrauding an amount believed to be not more than a thousand dollars.
