The convicted rapist and First Class bus owner Simbarashe Gibson has been remanded in custody until the 16th of this month after his application challenging his placement on remand was thrown out for lack of merit.

Gibson was slapped with an effective 6-year jail term for raping an 11 year old girl in 2010 and was granted bail pending appeal 5 days after his conviction.

He had his appeals to the High Court and Supreme Court dismissed.

Gibson is facing fresh charges of aggravated indecent assault and is likely to be charged for abduction after he allegedly performed indecent acts on his 24 year old cousin who was his employee and detained her from the 9th of October until her escape on the 28th of October.

The accused appeared before Mr Vakai Chikwekwe who threw out his application and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
