Cuthbert Dube unleash massive armed robbery spree with friends

Two armed criminals teamed up with Cuthbert Dube and allegedly robbed 43 shops and schools at gunpoint in Zhombe and Kwekwe.

The robbery spree took place from February 18 to March 30 last year.

Kelvin Dube (32) and Tafadzwa Magirisa (24) pleaded not guilty of 43 counts of armed robbery and unlawful entry.

The court heard through prosecutor Michael Mhene that Magirisa and Dube together with Cuthbert and Salam Manyakwenda pounced on shops in Zhombe and Redcliff in Kwekwe and went away with money, cars, furniture, mobile phones and groceries on 43 occasions.

After carrying out their raids they would share the loot and abandon the gateway cars.

However, suspicious Kwekwe residents sold them out to the police leading to their arrest.

Cuthbert is already serving a 20-year jail term for stealing copper cables in Gokwe while Manyakwenda is still at large.
