Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa returned home from Geneva, Switzerland with acclaim from some United Nations (UN) member states who celebrated Zimbabwe's effort in the promotion of human rights.
The Vice President arrived back home last night having attended the UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR) meeting on human rights and presented the national report on the human rights situation in Zimbabwe.
At the close of the UPR session at the Geneva UN headquarters, Zimbabwe accepted to implement 142 recommendations on how to improve the human rights situation.
100 other recommendations were put on hold as they are subject to further consideration.
Zimbabwe's national human rights report courted favour from a number of countries which called for the lifting of western imposed sanctions on the country, saying the embargo is in itself is a violation of human rights.
