Zimbabwe, USA not enemies - government says

The Zanu PF led government has claimed that there has never been bad blood between Zimbabwe and American administration.
Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Christopher Mushohwe made the claim soon after the election of Donald Trump as USA next president on Wednesday.
"Zimbabwe has never had any quarrel with America and does not need to have any quarrel with America" he told the state controlled Herald.
"Indeed, Zimbabwe has never been an enemy of America".
Mushohwe said Zimbabwe cannot pre-judge the incoming Trump administration but said "It could actually be a better government than the previous government".
However, the US-Zimbabwe relationship has been strained for years, and President Robert Mugabe often turns the rhetoric up against what he says are "imperialists".
The sticking issue is that of sanctions imposed in 2001.
