Zanu PF looted Zimdef finances

The ruling Zanu PF has implicated itself in the messy Zimdef looting spree saga that has sucked in Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo and his deputy Godfrey Gandawa.

Zanu PF approached Zimdef to financed it's numerous activities, the party's Politburo meeting heard on Wednesday.

According to reports, Jacob Mudenda led commited tasked by President Robert Mugabe tabled the report.

"The report indicated that money from Zimdef was not only channeled to individual use but also that Zanu PF requested for funding and it benefitted," a senior Zanu PF official is quoted saying.

Zanu PF secretary for administration Ignatius Chombo is quoted saying the report was expected to be deliberated at in the next politburo meeting.

Following the fraud saga, close to 200 Zimdef workers face retrenchment and the department is selling I upmarket six story building in Harare for sale.

Moyo is accused of defrauding ZIMDEF - a department in his ministry of close to $400 000.

Charges levelled against the Zanu PF politburo member include claims that he used ZIMDEF funds to acquire motorbikes and bicycles for the traditional leaders in his constituency.
