Civil servants bonuses dilemma
12 Nov 2016 at 09:16hrs | Views
Government is in a catch-22 situation over civil servants bonuses as it has emerged that there is no position on that.
"There is no position regarding the modalities of paying the bonuses yet but we will meet with Minister Chinamasa in the next two weeks to discuss the issue," said Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira.
A few months ago Chimanasa announced the suspension of bonuses for two years, a development that exposed government divisions.
Information minister Chris Mushohwe quickly dismissed Chinamasa saying Cabinet never agreed on that.
Mupfumira added that government is mobilising funds for bonuses.
Civil servants got their 2015 bonuses early this year, in batches.
This year, they are most likely to receive the controversial bond notes.
