Increased agriculture inputs uptake and improved preparations have been cited as key factors that will spur productivity in the agriculture this season.
Speaking on the sidelines of a luncheon by a local seed house, SEEDCO Zimbabwe Managing Director Mr Denias Zaranyika said the zeal by farmers and the early rains have provided a solid basis for the country to attain a bumper harvest this season.
Mr Zaranyika said farmers should take advantage of the early rains to improve on productivity and reduce the ever increasing food imports that continue to affect the country's balance of trade.
He said it is pleasing to note that shops throughout the country are well stocked with various seed varieties and fertilizers which is critical in ensuring the farming season is a success.
Government embarked on the command agriculture project that is expected to further boost productivity in the agricultural sector this season.
