Man elopes with 15 year old daughter, ditches mother

A 30-year-old Odzi man and his minor stepdaughter are on trial here over incest.
The man from Nyamajura and his 15-year-old daughter are being tried by magistrate Tendai Mahwe.
They are being charged with engaging in sex within a prohibited degree of relationship as defined in section 75 of Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act chapter 9:23.
It is the State's case that the two even eloped together to another village where they were staying as husband and wife between mid-September and November 3.
The man had left with the girl claiming that they were seeking employment elsewhere.
A police report was made leading to the arrest of the duo over their consensual sexual relationship.
The man is in custody and being tried behind bars while the girl is back in her mother's custody.
In denying the charges, the man is alleging that the girl is his wife's sister.
