Pay workers bonuses - ZCTU

Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions secretary-general, Japhet Moyo has called on companies which are 'doing well' and making profits to pay workers bonuses.
Traditionally, bonuses are paid up in November but over the years most companies scrapped the payments citing harsh economic conditions.
"While we agree that we are going through turbulent times in our economy, it would be wrong to conclude that everyone is doing badly.
" The issue of bonuses does not change; bonuses are still relevant today because they have always been attached to the performance of individual entities, so let those companies making profits pay bonuses to their employees," he said.
Last week, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira said government has not reached a 'position regarding the modalities of paying the bonuses'.
She said she is set to hold talks with Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa soon.
A few months ago Chinamasa announced the suspension of bonuses for two years, a development that exposed government divisions.
