Former Zanu PF Harare provincial chairperson Goodwills Masimirembwa has pleaded with ageing President Robert Mugabe to immediately fire ministers who are abusing social media platforms.

In recent months, Mugabe through Zanu PF politburo sessions has warned to take drastic action on members abusing social media.

Top party leadership particularly Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo is taking every opportunity to use his twitter account to attack party members.

At the weekend, Masimirembwa said Zanu PF was being destroyed from within by people who pretended to love Mugabe.

He called on Mugabe to deal with his top ministers who have refused to heed his call to stop washing Zanu PF dirty linen in public through social media.

"These people who have failed to heed your call should now be dumped because they have proved that they don't listen to you.

"The abuse of social media, Twitter, Whatsapp and Facebook is being done by your ministers some of them on the top table here," said Masimirembwa who in 2013 was publicly accused by Mugabe of extorting $6 million from a Ghanaian company that sought to invest in the Marange diamond field.

Moyo has of late been very active on Twitter, rebuking senior party members, and at times breaking diplomatic etiquette by attacking high ranking officials from other countries.

Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa is his favourite target.
