The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ZESA Holdings, Josh Chifamba, told parliament on Monday that the power supply firm will spend $155.4 million on salaries this year.
Chifamba said Zesa has a current workforce of 7000 across its four subsidiaries.
He said the figure is a slight drop from $161.4 million last year.
By end of September $112.8 million had been channelled to salaries.
According to Chifamba the power utility firm recorded $140 million loss in the first nine months to September.
"We are actually haemorrhaging as it is. We are selling power at below cost.
"The utility has not been awarded a tariff increase since 2011 and there has been no financial provision for the temporary emergency power plant and this has negatively affected the financial position of the utility".
