Hotels, lodges fully booked for Zanu PF conference

Hotels and lodges in Masvingo and several towns in the Southern region are fully booked for the Zanu PF annual national conference that is to take place on December 18, 2016, hoteliers have said.

Flamboyant, Chevron and Panyanda Lodges general manager, Pious Tshuma said all hotels and lodges in Masvingo are taken and more than a 100 houses have also been snapped for the conference with many more still wanted.

Some 6 000 delegates are expected to attend the five day conference with others expected to get accommodation at the colleges and universities around Masvingo.

The hoteliers said that bookings have been made despite that the dates for the conference are not yet announced. Business will be brisk for the city.

All lodges almost from Chivhu, Mvuma, Gweru and Zvishavane area taken, said the hoteliers.

All Regency run lodges and hotels are reported to have been taken up. Regency is the biggest hotel group in Masvingo Lee's Inn's 100 rooms have also all been taken, confirmed the manager Stewart Chitengu.

"We are fully booked for the duration of the Zanu PF conference in December," said Chitengu.

Amazing Village, Lion City Lodges and Ancient City are also all taken. "I am sorry we are booked during the December conference and we are making efforts to get additional accommodation in residential places like Rhodene," said Osy Mhere Lion City proprietor.

"All our hotels and lodges can accommodate 200 guests and we were tasked to get accommodation for 500 people not sharing. The best I can do is to get 100 houses more from Rhodene, Hillside and Target Kopje areas because all charlets and lodges are fully booked," said Tshuma.

A worker at the four star Zvishavane premier accommodation Pote Hill Hotel said the place was fully booked a receptionist confirmed that there was no accommodation during the time of the conference.

Night clubs and bars are also gearing up for the event and ladies of the night will likely throng the ancient city looking for business.

Pick 'n' Pay manager Samuel Kapasuka said, "We are fully stocked for the conference."
