Kariba Resort town is now on it's feet and ready as it hosts the NASH and NAPH this year. A total of around 1200 secondary school heads will grace the resort town this June from the 21st through to the 23rd 2017 with the primary heads scheduled for October. Kariba having been sanctified with speckled accommodation that range from hotels, camping sites, houseboats and over 30 lodges that are scattered in both high and low densities taking the needs of the visiting heads' accommodation. The newly enhanced Tamarind lodges can accommodate 500 people with Carribbea Bay taking over 200. The known and registered beds with Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has been noted to be around 1300 yet over 500 beds still exist in lodges that visitors have always been using.

The interesting part of Kariba is when one opts to put up in houseboats that can dock at the known hotels to allow visitors to enjoy themselves on land during their leisure time and just resting for the night. Over 700 beds are available with arrangements that cater for the African conviction that people need not sleep in a water body. It's an experience that if Heads of schools choose, they would never regret such a service. Reality is that Kariba can host large groups of people for conferences that are over 2000 accommodating them superbly.

With the coming of the school heads, stakeholders have taken it seriously and have started preparing for making sure that supplies are obtainable especially fish and kapenta. The places for drinking have been given innovative faces recently where Top Dollar has renovated the famous Big Two in the Mahombekombe suburb to a hide-out restaurant with full entertainment daily. ZTA has been pressed by stakeholders to make sure that the facilities that are available are prepared well to make sure the two groupings of heads do get value for money. To show the earnestness of hosting the school heads, the Kariba District Schools Inspector Mr Dzveta attended a recent stakeholders meeting to delineate the expectations of our educators and the need to be prepared.

Kariba is ready for the heads and a multiplicity of activities that includes cruises, dam wall visits, crocodile citing, game drives have been added to the package of what Kariba will proffer to such imperative assemblage. It's interesting that the Kariba tourism operators have said no to the usage of schools and ordinary houses for the Heads' accommodation preferring to give educationists the most excellent. Kariba has been enjoying and getting its traffic mostly from schools hence the need to reciprocate and thank the heads by making sure they enjoy by experiencing the freshness of Kariba during the winter and summer times. Yes, its doable.
