On Saturday MDC Alliance held a rally in Magunje as part of the Alliance Rural engagement program. TZ President, Jacob Ngarivhume addressed the rally. Senior Alliance delegates included Morgan Komichi (MDC T), Manyengavana (PDP), Mandivenga Zhou (MCD) plus Ndonga and Zim Pf representatives.

Suspected army personnel took over the Alliance venue where they gathered some youths for a football match, in a glaring move intended to sabotage and frustrate the Alliance rally. An alternative venue was immediately sought and people still attended in droves.

In his address, the TZ president Jacob Ngarivhume rebuked the actions of the army imploring the rank and file of the army to respect and stick to their constitutional apolitical mandate of protecting territorial sovereignty of the nation.

Ngarivhume went on to say, "We are having this meeting a few weeks from our independence day celebrations. As the Alliance and as TZ we respect and value the sacrifices made by the gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe who died for this nation. Their bravery, patriotism and resilience is something we admire and greatly respect." Ngarivhume informed the gathering that Alliance principals had resolved to attend this year's independence celebrations.

Ngarivhume gave special mention to Dr Tsvangirai, whom he called the father of the Zimbabwean democracy, and led people to observe a minute's silence in his owner.

In his main message, Ngarivhume highlighted policy positions necessary for Zimbabwe to transform its political and economic fortunes for the better.

1. We are going to promote Industrialisation of our nation so as to create the jobs our people need. We shall do this by availing funds to this cause which we shall get from trading our minerals as well as investments from local busines people and international investors.

2. We are going to make sure that we have good governance in this nation. The three arms of government must be independent, and the chiefs and traditional leaders must be apolitical. The army must be devorced from the political and simply focus on the protection of the nation.

3. We are going to improve the Social Service in each province. With regards to health, we are going to strive that there be a clinic in every ward and hospitals in every district which are fully staffed with a permanent doctor stationed at every center. We are going to increase schools in every province and we are going to make sure our road networks are reconstruction and fully maintained

4. Empowerment of Citizens shall be another key pillar of the Alliance government. Our children must be empowered through education. In that regard, all primary level children in public schools shall have free education. Remarkable students shall be supported even from A level through to university level by the government.

5. In conclusion, Ngarivhume highlighted that Zimbabwe now needs a Transformational Leadership, a leadership which fears God. "The failure of Zimbabwe has been a failure of leadership. Instead of using the nations' resources to benefit the people, we have had a leadership that has used the resources for self benefit and selfish gains. Zimbabwe now needs a generation which fears God to take this nation forward.

The meeting ended on a high note, with people enlightened of where the Alliance is going and fired up for change, come elections this year.
