Second Red Friday: Getting signatures for our Red Petition
31 May 2018 at 18:53hrs | Views
The second instalment of the series of the Red Friday Protests is on tomorrow the 1st of June 2017.This week we are focusing on mobilising signatures for our Red Petition. The petition was drafted from the input of rural teachers who met and deliberated on the Red Friday of 18 May 2018.
Amalgamated Rural Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe, ARTUZ urges all teachers to be part of this protest by wearing Red and sitting in schools but not delivering any service. We also invite citizens to join us as we mount pressure on our employer to improve our conditions of service.
The outcome of the NJNC meeting of 24 May 2018 has rendered our Sister Unions either indifferent or at worst anti-teacher. We are choosing to be different by sustaining the struggle for the Restoration of Teacher Legacy.
We are aware that we have been labeled rebels by some; to the contrary we are treading on a revolutionary path. We seek to change the character of the teaching profession in Zimbabwe and further transform the quality of rural education.
Our forerunners in Unionism claim to be more experienced than us and we admit they are more experienced in the culture of distributing t shirts and diaries. Ours is a new culture of Unionism premised on unflinching representation of our constituency.
Red Friday of Rage, Wear Red, Sit in and Sign the petition. Restoring Teacher Legacy!
