It is that time of the year whereby Mopane Foundation International (MFI), a UK registered charity no. 1167272 is holding their annual fundraising event to raise funds for fees, uniforms and other basic educational necessities in aid of the 35 less privileged orphans in 4 provinces of rural Zimbabwe.  The organisation is calling for support in donations or form of sponsorship or by attending the event on the 17th November 2018 at Park Community Hall, Samson St, Sheffield S2 SQT between 18H00 and 23H59. Attending the event will also be an opportunity for attendees to get feedback on how the previous year's public donations have been utilised. For £25 only per person, in smart casual, come & enjoy food, entertainment and networking while supporting a worthy cause. 16-year old Nadine Nkala with the assistance of Wellingtone Mdlongwa are taking lead on this, with youth leading there won't be any dull moment.

While MFI's main basic objective is to provide educational support to the less-privileged vulnerable rural kids mainly orphans through paying school fees, buying them uniforms; just basic necessities basically to keep them in school, nurture them as well as continue seeking opportunities them to explore. The charity is passionate about rural kids' education and it believes they are the forgotten world of Zimbabwe for they are never mentioned beside them being the most disadvantaged.

True to their objectives, the organisation partnered with Zimbabwe Science Fair from 2016 and under their ZimScienceFair banner facilitated 2 kids from Somakwilili Primary School in Nkayi, Matebeleland North to enter, travelled to Pretoria in RSA and participated in a science competition with other kids their age from different backgrounds from across the continent. Those 2 from never been to the city they ended up beyond the Zimbabwean boarders- all credit to public support through donations. Following the public financial support through the organisation's fundraising initiatives; for the first time, MFI facilitated a 2-week Bulawayo Educational Tour from August 13 – 27, 2018 for all the 35 kids from Nkayi and Tsholotsho in Matebelend North, Shurugwi in Midlands and Kezi and Matobo in Matebeleland South. "Despite the underestimated financial challenges we encountered, the kids were housed at Founders High School hostel with 2 cooks cooking 3 meals a day for them and visited 8 organisations for educational purposes and mostly Bulawayo City Council run. As intended, it also turned out to be the most educational fun-packed trip for kids and more of an eye-opener for the team. Before then the longest we have spent time with them was a day once a year and at least 5 days for the 2 we went to South Africa in August 2017.  While we do hope the kids would aspire to be some of professionals and careers they got exposed to, as a team we also had a better insight on them as people and we came to realise some of our shortcomings in relation to the support we give" says Nomsa Neke the Project Leader.

It takes a village to raise a child therefore me and you can do our part with these. It is a drop in the ocean because there are a lot more kids like these or worse off but we must start somewhere. For £25 only per person, in smart casual, come & enjoy food, entertainment and networking while supporting a worthy cause. Some our work will be exhibition on the evening.
