WARNING - INTERNET FRAUD
06 Aug 2012 at 15:32hrs | Views
The Zimbabwe Embassy in Senegal is frequently requested to check out addresses and telephone numbers in Dakar before unsuspecting victims transfer money to accounts or persons purporting to be refugees in a camp, victims of violence, church pastors, etc., seeking their assistance on the internet in order to have huge amounts of money released from a trust account in some international bank.
Other fraudsters invite participants to a non-existent workshop/conference.
Please be advised that these addresses invariably turn out to be false. There are many such scams on the internet. It is unfortunate that Zimbabweans appear to be a target, perhaps because we are not as internet-savvy as others.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE YOU DO NOT KNOW IN THE FLESH!
