Mavambo.Kusile.Dawn (M.K.D) Condolence Message

Vice President John Landa Nkomo

We learnt with shock and sadness, of the death of Vice President John Landa Nkomo. We followed closely his illness, and all the time prayed, wished and hoped that he would heal and come back to living his normal life.

On behalf of the National Management Committee (NMC) and all members of Mavambo.Kusile.Dawn (M.K.D), Mrs. Makoni and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Nkomo family, to the whole nation of Zimbabwe and to ZANU PF; on the sad and untimely death of Vice President John Landa Nkomo. We join the nation in mourning a true national leader.

Vice President Nkomo's contribution to the liberation of Zimbabwe and its development after independence is immeasurable. Zimbabwe has been robbed of a mature, true national leader, with unwavering dedication to his country.

John Nkomo was a unifier and pacifier. He was a humble, kind and loving leader to all the people of Zimbabwe. As Chairman of the organ for National Healing and Reconciliation, he played a pivotal role in reuniting the people of Zimbabwe and soothing the pain inflicted on them by political conflict. He was tireless in his quest for national cohesion. He belonged to all Zimbabwe, not one political party, not one area or province, not one social class.

I was privileged to work closely with him as Minister and Deputy Minister respectively of Industry and Energy Development between 1981 and 1984. During that period we grew strong and lasting official as well as personal relationships.

Vice President John Landa Nkomo will be sadly missed by all of us.

Hamba kahle qawe la maqawe, Zororai murugare nekusingaperi! May your soul rest in eternal peace.

Let's Get Zimbabwe Working Again. KaOne!

Simba Makoni
President
