Werksmans Attorneys, the South African-based legal firm specialising in infrastructure deals on the African continent, has joined the list of distinguished corporates that have added their support to the upcoming Infrastructure Africa Business Forum (IABF) in Sandton in July.

"We believe that Infrastructure Africa is an appropriate forum that supports what Werksmans is doing in the infrastructure space. We are particularly involved in the nascent oil and gas industry and in the development of the infrastructure space in and around this industry. This promises exciting opportunities in our own country as it has delivered in other countries in Africa, particularly in Mozambique and Tanzania," says Werksmans director, Greg Nott.

Werksmans joins Accenture, RMB, Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) as sponsors of the third annual IABF. The event enjoys a strategic partnership with the Gauteng Province Department of Infrastructure Development (GPDID) and a founding partnership with NEPAD's Planning & Coordinating Agency (NPCA).

Werksmans is sponsoring the Project Development and Access to Projects workshop, which will look at bankable and viable infrastructure projects, discuss project opportunities for private sector companies and brainstorm ideas for the private and public sector to collaborate on African infrastructure projects. The firm is active in the renewable energy space and adept at closing projects which have been spawned by the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer's Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) in South Africa. As such, Werksmans is the ideal sponsor for the session.

"Everyone is looking for African project opportunities, but it is difficult to understand which ones are real and which ones are still ideas," says Liz Hart, Managing Director at Siyenza, the organisers of the annual Infrastructure Africa Business Forum (IABF).

Siyenza has spent considerable time and money travelling across Africa, meeting project owners and developers and inviting them to South Africa to participate at the 2014 Business Forum. "We are encouraged by the desire for African project owners to discuss their respective investment opportunities at the IABF and this will provide all participants with added value through their attendance. Projects showcased will be those providing a real return," affirms Hart. To date participation has been secured from Cameroon, Angola, Ghana, Senegal, Zambia, Rwanda, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, Mozambique, Mauritius, South Africa, Gabon and Tanzania."

The third Infrastructure Africa Business Forum takes place on the 21 – 22 July at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg with an exhibition and business matchmaking component running alongside the main conference event. The IABF's formal Business Matchmaking Programme allows delegates to request meetings with other delegates and speakers in attendance in advance and to have the meetings on site during the event. This service is complimentary to all registered delegates.
Delegates can also expect to explore new trading opportunities, establish and strengthen business networks, develop and form partnerships and plan a way forward to address some of the continent's infrastructure project requirements.
