Speak out - Khulumani Billboard Erroneous
10 Oct 2014 at 14:26hrs | Views
Dear Editor
We at Christians For Social Justice note with great concern the continued blatant violation and disrespect for the IsiNdebele language by corporates, companies and organizations in Zimbabwe.
The latest such violation is the billboard written SPEAKOUT - KHULUMANI. This Billboard big as it is and with very few IsiNdebele words that they may be, is written in totally wrong Ndebele language. The incorrectness of the Billboard is here:
Billboard statement: Ungayekheli udhlakela likuphazamise
Correct statement Ungayekeli udlakela lukuphazamise
We hope and wish the owners of the billboard will appreciate that the language in their billboard is wrong to say the least and having the billboard continuously up is fundamentally wrong, morally incorrect and socially unjust.
We therefore would like to advise and call upon the owners of this offensive billboard to immediately pull it down and replace it with one that has a corrected Ndebele language. Failure or delays ion doing so will serve but to prove that the owners of the billboard and the numerous organizations whose logos appear in the board have no respect and regard of the social, cultural, constitutional, ethnic and linguistic rights of the people of Ndebele language speakers.
We hope to see action soon regarding this billboard from its owners
