Tsvangirai leads with love

In tandem with President Tsvangirai's message of love during the festive period, the MDC-T Johannesburg district has pampered the family of the late hero Remember Moyo with gifts.

At the time of his death, Remeber Moyo - who was arrested, tortured and incarcerated for more than three years by President Robert Mugabe"s previous government -- was the chairman of the mainstream MDC-T' s Johannesburg  district.

Moyo was one of several MDC activists arrested in November 2001, on allegations that they had murdered former war veterans' leader, Cain Nkala and another Zanu (PF) activist, Limukani Luphahla, in the countrys second biggest city of Bulawayo.

The MDC activists were detained at Khami Prison in Bulawayo and while the others were released in separate court decisions in November and December 2001, Remember, Gilbert Khethani Sibanda and Sazini Mpofu remained detained. The activists were severely tortured by state secret service agents in a bid to force to them to confess to the murders.

The event was held at the party offices in Braamfontein, Johannesburg and was graced by several district executives amongst them Chairman Mncedisi Bhebhe, Secretary Milton Matshazi, Organising secretary Bongani Mathe and Chairlady Rita Chabalala. In solidarity, Pretoria district send a delegation led by the district organiser Precious Mutete and Youth Chairman Pound Tambo whilst the Provincial Executive was represented by Deputy Chairman Stanley Mutambiranwa and Organiser Trust Ndlovu. National Youth Chairman Happymore "Bvondo" Chidziva who worked for a long time with Remember Moyo since the inception of the party of excellence was represented by Jillian Dube the South Africa representative in the national executive of the Youth assembly.

Remember Moyo met his ultimely death as a result of torture and serious assault a few years after his detention on frivolous charges by the Mugabe regime. Adolf Jamela, a former police officer who was chuckled out of the police for his professional conduct in the investigations of the departed hero. Jamela gave a moving and painful account of the torture, treatment and injustice meted upon Remember Moyo and others at the direct instigation of Augustine Chihuri a protégé of the nonagenarian dictator.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Gilbert Moyo( brother)  thanked the MDC T Johannesburg district executive for the gesture of humanity and care. The widow, Mrs Sophia Moyo cried tears of joy and was overwhelmed with emotions as she received the gifts from Chairlady Riva Chavalala. Former provincial Youth Chairperson Giyani Dube narrated the role of remember Moyo as a national leader whose contribution is not limited to Matabeleland but the entirety of Zimbabwe.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Mncedisi Bhebhe, with the entire district executive in agreement,  indicated a strong desire to extend the treats to all families of fallen heroes within the district.
Provincial Organising secretary Trust Ndlovu thanked the entire MDC T family for heeding to the president's message of love.
