An article appeared on Bulawayo24News purporting to be written by a Thulani Nkala, titled "Dabengwa 'political impotent, divisive and clueless': Zapu NEC official" suggesting that Dumiso Dabengwa is a divisive and failed leader. An alert member of ZAPU Europe alerted me to the article. I have to say that the article was not written by me. I am aware that there are many Thulani Nkalas, but I suspect that the person who wrote the article intended for it to appear as if it was written by me.
It is the right of every ZAPU member to express personal feelings and views regarding the trajectory of the party. The ZAPU National Congress is going to be held later this year; it is not an ‘appointive' Congress as in ZANU PF, but an elective National Congress, where new leadership will emerge. If Dr Dumiso Dabengwa wins the leadership race and remains the President, I will fully support him, but if he loses and someone else assumes the reins I will fully support that individual.
I have full confidence in the leadership of Dumiso Dabengwa and his executive. In ZAPU no one goes without scrutiny, even our President's leadership is subjected under intense scrutiny. ZAPU is truly a Democratic Party. One thing that has to be said of Dr Dumiso Dabengwa right now is that he has successfully revived ZAPU. Only political charlatans of the waste kind will believe that Dabengwa will seek to destroy a Party he has successfully revived. ZAPU is slowly reclaiming its political ground, that on its own scares ZANU PF to the extent of playing dirty politics by manufacturing Thulanis in order to put the leadership of Dabengwa and ZAPU in bad light.
I Thulani Nkala the son of Mdanyazanawebutholezwe, is an independent thinker, a true proponent of the devolution politics, an idea whose time has come and whose flame is not extinguishable. It is the revolution of our time which calls for all the revolutionaries to stand up and be counted.
ZANU PF's agents, CIOs and infiltrators will not stop this train; this train is in motion and cannot be stopped or derailed in anyway. ZANU PF can use its scribes and agents to tarnish the name of Dabengwa, my name and the Party, but let me assure them, that the Rubicon has been crossed; nothing can rein in the revolutionary Party.
