The Unemployed Youth Organisation(UYO) joins the workers in Zimbabwe and around the whole world in celebrating Workers Day. In the same vein we are deeply concerned by the plight of the employed mainly the young generation in Zimbabwe.

The payments of workers below the poverty datum line remain a mockery of the talented and committed workers in our country.

Being on the Workers Day is another juncture that is painful for Zimbabwean young generation. The scarcity of formal employment has reached unimaginable proportions mainly presided by a callous and failure by the country's biggest employer to create employment opportunities.

As Unemployed Youth Organisation of Zimbabwe we wish to categorically remind the government that it is their duty to cater for millions of unemployed youth. The time for our generation to work and bring prosperity to our country is now and can never be postponed. It should also be placed on record without any prevarication that we have absolutely nothing to celebrate on Workers Day when there is no worker amongst us. Our brothers and sisters are burnt, murdered and maimed by ignomaruses in foreign countries for purpotedly stealing jobs when companies continue closing on a daily basis in our nation.

We are saddened by continual international image of being beggars, paupers and economic slaves.Dignity of the Zimbabwean youth have been tarnished mainly due to failure by the leaders to answer and solve the economic challenges. From the above, UYO will continue representing and assisting the Unemployed, the underemployed, the downtrodden and dejected young masses of our beautiful nation.

We call upon all the young people to join the struggle against unemployment and economic slavery

We will not look back, retreat or surrender the struggle against unemployment.

WE DEMAND ECONOMIC FREEDOM IN OUR LIFETIME
