The Zimbabwe Unemployed People's Association (ZUPA), which represents the interests of millions of unemployed Zimbabweans, is appealing to all faith based organization to come together to project.
As an organisation, we are concerned over the sustained intolerance among politicians in the country, especially during elections.
Churches must form an all Faith Based organisation to monitor the 2018 election and many more to come. Such a robust election monitoring initiative must be launched as part of the National Convergence Platform (NCP) being championed by Bishop Sebastian Bakare.
Organisation composed of all faith based organisations must seek to monitor the entire electoral process starting with the voter registration exercise, campaigns etc.
All leaders of the partner church mother bodies must be fully involved.
The focus of this national project is to protect the will of the voters and help improve citizens' confidence in the electoral process of our great country.
Recalling that previous general elections have been marred by a lot of suspicions, with some of the stakeholders feeling that the results were not managed properly while parties like the MDCs alleged rigging on the part of other parties.
As representatives of the poor, we believe that this calls for better monitoring mechanisms in future elections to deter possible malpractices during the management of results.
We trust that maturity and honesty would be employed to set up such a noble initiative in the best interest of the country and its proud citizens. ZUPA is the Zimbabwe Unemployed People's Association (ZUPA) representing the interests of millions of unemployed Zimbabweans.
It has representation in all provinces of Zimbabwe, with local communities choosing their own ward council leadership in a bottom up model of involving the communities in their own affairs.
