People First Ireland New year solidarity message

We the Coordinating Committee of People First in Ireland wish to give our New Year solidarity message to all BUILDERS in Zimbabwe and in the diaspora. The year 2016 is no ordinary year in the body politics of Zimbabwe. It is a year in which we must define our destiny as we inch towards the harmonised elections in 2018 or earlier. The economic and social situation currently obtaining in the country is not only untenable but betrays human decency. Life has become impossible for the majority of the people and calls for action. The time has come to say enough is enough to Zanu PF misrule. In recognition of this fact we, the BUILDERS in Ireland, have resolved that people's needs and aspirations must come first through People First.
People First in Ireland takes great exception that Zanu PF fiddles whilst the country burns because of its ineptitude, corruption, mismanagement, arrogance, and trampling upon people's constitutional rights, punctuated by unmitigated violence. We are taken aback that President Mugabe and his family are having quality time outside the country when people are groaning under the weight of stalking starvation and the salary crisis for civil service. There is deafening disjuncture between financial policies and the disastrous indigenisation programme spearheaded by the President's nephew. Sooner rather than later, there will be acute food shortage. People First in Ireland rejects the man-made disaster in Zimbabwe. We reject turning the democratic ideals for which many gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe died for into a dynasty circus.
Life has become impossible for our youth and young men and women who have found family. Employment prospects have become non-existent, and our universities are churning out graduates who have no prospect of finding a job. People First Ireland endorses the BUILD economic blueprint as an alternative to the useless ZIMASSET whose aim is to impoverish the whole nation, turning our productive youth to Border Gezi militia. We believe that isolating Zimbabwe from civilized nations and foist upon us the decadent North Korean policies of development is retrogressive and repugnant to the aspirations of Zimbabweans. The BUILD economic blueprint shows us the way to extricate ourselves from the dungeon that Zanu PF has brought us into.
2016 beckons us to re-examine and refocus the principles of our armed struggle. The battle cry was "iwe neni tine basa rekusunungura Zimbabwe" (which means all of us have a part to play in liberating Zimbabwe). It is the same clarion call that People First in Ireland is refocusing as we find a trajectory to reclaim our constitutional dignity as a people, hence People First. Today we join hands with our brothers and sisters scattered throughout the world by affirming our commitment to BUILD Zimbabwe. Together we are committed to the restoration of our dignity as a people. Together we reject pauperization of the whole nation. Today we take a stand and say no more corruption in high places. Together we denounce and reject the use of desperate youths as instruments of violence. We note that ZIMASSET has failed to create the two million jobs. This year, 2016, we take a stand against the wanton destruction of the economy and its people. Together, let's BUILD Zimbabwe again!
