We the Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe are riled by the government's shameful attempt at raping teachers and hoodwinking them into accepting shift in their pay dates.

What is clear and must be known is that the teachers have worked already and all they need now are their salaries. There is no need for negotiating this reality.

To even meet and discuss the issue of teachers salaries is a big insult and as RTUZ we will not be party to such a process. The so called stakeholders consultations are nothing but red herrings designed to buy time and misled the suffering teachers that their salaries are being prioritised yet the government has no concern at all.

We have worked for our money, all that is needed now is for the teachers' accounts to be credited with their salaries. RTUZ will thus no be part to a process sanitising government irresponsibility under whatever guise.

The issues for consultations should be about salary increments, the housing crisis in schools, improvement of examination security, the construction of laboratories in public schools and such other pertinent issues.

In light of this as RTUZ instead of wasting time attending meaningless monologues disguised as meetings we will be mobilizing for our 1 July 2016 demonstration for our salaries. On 1 July we will bring business to a stand still at the Ministry of Finance as we demand our monies.

We can no longer keep silent and attend meetings whose only material outcome are just hefty sitting allowances for the government ministers and their hangers on.

As RTUZ we are a fighting union and we will be in the trenches to defend our profession and salaries from further bastardizing by this ruthless regime
