DARE STATEMENT

Electoral Reforms Demonstration.

Today the people of Zimbabwe were denied a chance to peacefull demonstrate against a partisan and unreformed Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

It is shamefull and disgusting that Zanu Pf used our police to crush a court sanctioned opposition parties protest.

Indeed today we became aware that Zanu Pf is running scared of the democratic challenge. They are scared of upholding the constitution of Zimbabwe and in fact have lost legitimacy.

That a government would block protest against a so called independent body is the last nail on a coffin.

It is no longer a secret that they have used and still plan to use ZEC to rig and steal forthcoming elections.

Such protectiveness of ZEC shows the strong underhand control of Zanu Pf on ZEC functions and duties.

In that revelation it becomes neccessary to demand that Zimbabweans suspend the electoral act and therefore institute an identity card voting system under the auspices of the United Nations ,AU and SADC.

We further request the disbandment of ZEC and establishment of an agreed all stakeholders electoral management body.

We ask for retirement of partisan security chiefs who has made political statements in violation of the constitution of Zimbabwe. We demand that an agreed clear roadmap to elections be agreed upon and be established.

Zimbabweans were today brutalised and bastardised in their own country by a police force which turned a blind eye to a court granted demonstration order.

We hold the police liable for any loss of life, looting, damage to property and violence as a result of provoking a peacefull public.

The tendency of police to teargas the central bussiness district is a serious danger to public order and citizens rights.

It is shocking and should eat into concience of Israeli and Chinese manufacturers of such abused products We will internationaly ask them to account for such sales to a country with a known poor record of human rights abuses.

We want to thank those who joined us on this demonstration and ask them to join us again in our fight for free , fair elections and democracy.

Let us restore our values and empower Zimbabweans to choose a government by themselves for themselves.
Aluta Continua!!!
