Man jailed 24 years for theft of Honda Fit

A man from Chinotimba in Hwange has been jailed 24 years after he stole a Honda fit car belonging to a fellow resident.

Elton Nyathi (23) was denying the charge of car theft when he appeared before Hwange Regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.

But the magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 26 years in jail. Two years of the sentence were suspended for five years on condition of good behavior.

Prosecutor Bheki Tshabalala told the court that on September 24 this year Nyathi went to KoMpofu Night Club Chinotimba where he stole a Honda Fit car belonging to Sydney Marezwa.

After the owner discovered that the car has been stolen he reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Nyathi.
