The IB Diploma Programme Language A: Literature course introduces students to the analysis of literary texts and is a comprehensive exploration of literature from a variety of cultures, genres and periods. The course encourages students to appreciate the artistry of literature and to develop an ability to reflect critically on their reading. The study of works in translation is especially important in introducing students to other cultural perspectives while appreciating their own cultures and works associated with them.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is currently seeking to make the appointment of:
Examiner Responsible for Ndebele A: Literature
An Examiner Responsible is principally responsible for setting and maintaining the academic standard for their subject. They are therefore closely involved in setting question papers, marking candidates' work, and determining the final grades of candidates. The initial appointments will last two years. Following this period, and subject to mutual agreement, the appointment may be extended. Much of the work can be carried out from home; occasional meetings in one of the IB's European offices may be required.
Applicants must have:
• native fluency in the language for which they are applying
• a minimum of three years' experience teaching the subject to students aged 15
or above
• academic qualifications in the subject at an appropriate level
• availability during the assessment period in order to complete marking and related assessment tasks
• availability to fulfil commitments, attend meetings, meet deadlines and respond to queries
• enthusiasm for e-marking
• reliable broadband internet connection.
