A Binga man who allegedly stole a villager's ox and became violent when a police officer visited his home to arrest him has been dragged to court for stock theft and resisting arrest.
Moffat Mudimba (30) pleaded not guilty to stock theft and resisting arrest charges when he appeared before Hwange magistrate Sharon Rosemani.
He was further remanded in custody for trial.
Prosecutor Lindiwe Maseko told the court that sometime in November 2013 Nowell Dube released his cattle to the grazing land.
Mudimba then took the ox and sold it to Felix Ndlovu at $400.
Dube discovered that his beast was missing and started searching for it.
He later discovered that it was sold to Ndlovu and went to his home where he found it in a kraal.
Ndlovu told him he bought it from Mudimba and Dube reported to the police.
When a police officer went to arrest him at his home he resisted arrest and threatened to axe the police officer and to stab him with a knife.
He was later arrested.
