Cop's son breaks into police camp house, steals

A son of a police officer who broke into a house at the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) camp in Hwange and stole goods worth over $250 has been slapped with 3 and a half years in jail.
Milton Simpande (27) who resides at the Victoria Falls police camp pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before Hwange magistrate Rosemary Dube.
He was convicted and sentenced to three and a half years in jail.
In mitigation he told the court that he was a fish trader saying he committed the offence because he feared for his life since he was seek and needed treatment.
"My sister died last year ok kidney failure, so when I went to see the doctor, he told me that I had traces of blood in my stomach, and my kidneys had problems so I wanted to raise money for treatment," he said.
Prosecutor Lindiwe Maseko told the court that on November 1 this year at 5.30pm Simpande went to Tabarira Jambo's home in Hwange police camp where he broke in and when inside he stole mobile phones. He was arrested on November 29 and he led the police to Victoria Falls where the stolen property was recovered. The cost of the stolen property is $250 and it was recovered.
