Armed robber takes off with a bucket of maize and R100

A Tsholotsho woman (20) is lucky to be alive after she was struck with an iron bar by a robber who made off with her bucket of maize and R100.
The armed robber, also aged 20, met the woman in a pathway in Sesemba Village at about 5pm last Friday.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Siphiwe Makonese confirmed the incident which happened under Chief Madhliwa.
She said the suspect had since been arrested. "I can confirm that we received a report from a complainant who was struck in the head with an iron bar before being robbed of a bucket of maize and R100.
"The complainant was on her way to a grinding mill at Sesemba Store carrying a bucket of maize and the money," said Ass Insp Makonese.
She said the alleged robber, who is from the same area, demanded money from the complainant.
"When she refused with the money, the accused then struck her once on the back of her head with an iron bar and she fell to the ground. He then took the bucket of maize and cash before running away," she said.
