'It is not for Matebeleland to remove Mugabe'

Mthwakazi Republic Party spokesperson Mbonisi Gumbo has rapped National People's Party Official Bekezela Maduma Fuzwayo over his remarks that the only solution to Zimbabwe problems is to remove Zanu PF from power.
"I respect ubaba uBekezela Maduma njengomuntu otshiseka njalo esebenzela isizwe sakithi uMthwakazi. Kodwa ke the mistake he is making here is to think that all we need to do now as a people is to focus on removing Zanu from power. First of all, it is not for Matebeleland to remove Mugabe," he said.
"Robert Mugabe was not put there by Matebeleland. If anything, Matebeleland has consistently rejected Mugabe since 1980 but he has always retained power. I advise Maduma to listen to a Shona political song which says tisu takakuisa tichakubvisa bobo watengesa nyika kumachaina usazokanganwa. Bob and Zanu pf's stay in power depends on the Shona majority who ultimately decides who rules Zimbabwe. This is why even at at the peak of MDC, Matebeleland was their stronghold but Bob easily retained power."
He said what Mthwakazi needs to do is to forget about trying to form alliances to remove Mugabe because there is no guarantee that whoever comes after Mugabe will have a different approach to Matebeleland issues.
"Mthwakazi needs to form its own coalition which will seek to get the mandate from the people through votes to represent our people in Harare. Mthwakazi should send to Harare people who are not beholden to Harare (Morgan Tsvangirai, Mugabe, Joice Mujuru etc) so that her issues should be raised without fear or censor. If Mthwakazi votes for her own people, people who are beholden to matebeleland, people like Mthwakazi Republic Party, she gives herself great leverage in Zimbabwe politics. Good leverage to force Harare to listen to her concerns and seriously address the problems bedeviling Mthwakazi. This is why Mbonisi Gumbo makes a lot of sense here," said Gumbo.
"So in my view, Mthwakazi is faced with a simple choice: Involve herself in futile attempts to remove Zanu and Mugabe or give herself great leverage to force Harare to take her seriously by sending her own people to Harare. For me, the choice is simple, we need leverage more than replacing a tired dictator with its younger and potentially more lethal mutant (Mujuru or Tsvangirai)."
